Earth

Earth is the planet on which we live. It is the third planet from the sun. Earth rotates around its own axis and also around the Sun. It completes one rotation around its own axis in one day and it completes one rotation around the Sun in one year i.e 365 days. The Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth.

Earth’s structure consists of crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. Earth’s crust is the outermost layer and it consists of soil, rocks, and everything we see on its surface. The next layer under the crust is called ‘mantle’. It consists of solid and semi-solid hot rocks. It is the thickest layer of Earth. Under the mantle we have outer core which consists of nickel and iron in liquid form and under the mantle we have the inner core which consists of solid iron.

When seen from the space, Earth’s color appears to be blue. One of the reasons for this blue color is the water on Earth.
